Oops, we did it again. We changed our name. Not because of marriage or anything fun like that, I mean our actual brand name. Why on earth would we do that?
The short and boring answer is ‘for legal reasons’. It wasn’t messy, and there was no argy bargy, but it simply needed to happen. It was a lot of work and admin too, so if we’ve missed the name somewhere on the website or on our various socials then you will have to ‘bear’ with us (ha ha). It’s especially annoying given this is actually the second time we have rebranded!
What happened last time then?
On day 1 we had a little flirt with ‘Baby Choo’. I’m sure that reading that you can probably spot our mistake, because there is a very big shoe brand with a similar name 😜. We were somewhat naive and thought “well we’re making baby bibs not women’s shoes”, but that is not how it works in Trademarkland. So we dusted ourselves off, changed the name to ‘Baby Nom’ and carried on our merry way.
So far so good. What’s wrong with ‘Baby Nom’?
Now I’m not bashing the US and saying the UK is great (erm, our weather anyone? Nope, didn’t think so). But for trademarks, the UK is cheap and fast, whereas the US is SLOOOOWWWWW and expensive. So when we started Baby Nom we got our UK trademark and then got on with what we do best… making the nicest, most useful items we could for feeding babies. We also put in a US Trademark application and then got back to work. Fast forward 18 months and unfortunately we got some bad news. We cannot use that name for ALL our products! After many cups of tea, a fair bit of huffing and puffing, and ok you got me, some swearing... we came to a decision. We certainly wouldn’t want to tread on anyone’s toes, and we want to be as unique as possible, so another name change it was!
The suspense is killing us... what’s the name then?
Da da da... Nombear. As you can see, very close to ‘Baby Nom’ for consistency. But don’t worry, our mission remains the same, and our products are of course still award winning.
